Can my landlord keep my deposit after a 7-day notice to vacate?
I stayed in a duplex in Redwood City. I didn't sign any lease but the verbal agreement was a month to month basis. I stayed there for 2 months but I have an emergency so I have to leave for TX. Of course I paid a deposit equivalent to a month's rent of $1200. I only gave my landlord a 7 day notice to vacate the premise. Is the landlord entitled to keep my deposit even if I left the premises ready to move in? Am I not entitled to get back my deposit?
What should I do if my brother won't pay for the house?
My dad gave my sister and me a house and land. She has the back of the land with a trailer; I have the house. My brother wanted to buy my house, so I typed a contract saying I will sell my brother the house and he is to pay me each month $350.00 and pay taxes and he is to bring me the payments where I live now. He paid the first month with a check. This month, he and his girl friend came to me and said he is giving the payment to my dad. They want me to give them all of my land and I said no. If I am going to have trouble like this with him and they will not pay me, what do I do. I have land over there and he will not let me over there to do anything with my part. The land is registered to me and my sister.
Can we form a lease agreement for our friends' mobile home after five years?
My husband and I decided to help some friends with their mobile home by letting them place it on our property for two years to save money so they could buy a piece of property themselves. We said two years and this August will be five years. We want them to move, but they still have not saved their money and no land prospects. We have never once asked for rent. Now we would like to form a lease agreement if they will not move, can we do that? Can we have them removed?
What are my rights if my landlord sells the home I rent?
I rented a home and signed a one year lease. I've been living there for two months. Yesterday my landlord informed me the house is for sale, and that I will be required to show it to potential buyers. When I moved in and signed the lease, there was no mention of the property being for sale, or I NEVER would've moved in. What rights do I have in this situation? I don't want to move again already. Shouldn't my landlord have to wait until my lease is up before selling?
