Guardianship
What are my responsibilities as a guardian for my niece and nephew?
I have been the guardian for my niece and my nephew since Jun 07 when their mother was killed in a motorcycle accident. I am looking for specific information on my responsibilities/duties as I am working now with my lawyers to file my first accounting. I have taken on a huge role and it has affected my family (I have two young children also) but I am being scrutinized about how much I spend on bday parties and other things. Plus I am not taking any from the kids to perform this role. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks
What are the circumstances for emancipating a pregnant minor in California?
I am a grandparent and have had custody of my 17 year old granddaughter for the last 5 years. She is currently under probation intake on house arrest and also Children & Youth Services are involved. She is 8 weeks pregnant. I was told in the OB's office that at her age if she is pregnant, she is considered emancipated. The permanent custody decree was handed down in Superior Court, Alameda County, California. Neither my granddaughter nor her boyfriend who she is not allowed to see by her PO, have any means of supporting themselves (she is still in high school; he is 19 and has no job). She keeps breaking the probation rules and my house rules. Under what circumstances can she be emancipated? Would I have to file termination of guardianship papers in CA or PA?
What should I do if my wife won't return my guardianship funds?
I was awarded the Guardianship of the State, I deposited the money on my checking account to then transfer the money to a Block account. While I was on Army Training my wife took the money and place it on a different account with where she is the Guardian of the money, she told me that she was going to put it back to I complete the Court order, but she is taking for ever and now I have to go back to court and show the judge that I put the money on a block account, and she refuses to give me the money back. She says that nothing is going to happen to me, but I don't know what to do. Please help me what I need to do.
Can a sibling in Florida force a parent to move to New Jersey?
Does a younger sibling in Florida have legal options to force me to move our older parent to New Jersey where I reside? If so, do I have legal options to prevent this or prevent my sibling from deserting my parent? They have lived alone in separate residences in Florida for many years and my parent (80's) is healthy, clear minded, and independent and is eligible for future assisted living benefits in their hometown but not in New Jersey.
