What is the Definition of Employment Agency?
I received information from an attorney regarding setting up a staffing agency. However after considering the information I see that is not the proper classification for my business. I am a freelance execute assistant. So I work as a contractor on call for executives who may need a project completed. They may need travel arrangements, a database, presentation etc... I work either hourly or per project. I will contract other executive assistants to handle projects that I can't get to. These will not be employees but rather independent contractors who accept and/or reject projects as they wish. Is there a classification for what I do? I want to make sure I have all the proper licensing and nothing I am reading about or have received information on seems to apply to what I do.
Cam My Employer Lay Me Off and Then Rehire Me at a Lower Wage?
A new management took over our company back in May 2009. In June 24 2009, they announced that they're letting us go, and our last day, is 06/30/09. During that meeting, they gave us a choice to apply for this new company to fill the positions open. Almost half of us didn't apply, including me. The other half applied, but some of them didn't get the position. Now, during the last two days before the lay-off (06/30), After realizing i didn't apply, the operations manager offered me to stay, with a higher pay. I declined. There were few of us that they've asked to stay, however, due to the hostile environment, and how this new management treated us, the key people in the company, declined the offer and left.Now, my previous employer only targeted me and reported to EDD, that...yes, there was a lay-off, but we offered her the position and she declined. I believe their main goal is to lay-off and offer lesser pay (i was told by those who applied), and after realizing almost half of us didn't apply. They panicked.Is that ethical to do? To lay-off and re-hire against my will after realizing they made a mistake?

Can I Collect Unemployment if I Quit My Job?
I was Laid off by a Large Bank after 18 years of full employment. I file for UI and received it for a few months when I found a New Job with a Start up Mortgage Lender. After 7 months they were closed down by the Parent company. I applied for UI in WA State and collected it for 3 months when I was asked by my past Sales manage at the Last 2 companies to Start with a California Lender. The position is 100% commission. After 5 moths the Sales Manager Quit , and 2 weeks Later another Account Manager Quit, I am now after 6 month spending more on gas then I make.($400 total for 6 mo.) I am still collecting UI from WA state ... If I quit would I still be able to collect UI and Continue to search for a Salaried position or will they cut me off ?
