Can a fourteen year old choose which parent to live with?
A fourteen year old boy who lives with his mother wants to live with his father. The parents have joint custody. The father pays child support and has visitation rights on the weekends. The mother has remarried. The father is still single. Does the boy have legal right to decide who he would live with?
What are the truancy laws and neglect implications in Nebraska?
I was wondering what the truancy laws were in Nebraska. The father of my 11 year old child did not return her on her April 13th visitation and she has not been in school since. I was wondering what the laws were for truancy and isn't this child neglect? Can child protective services be called in on him? And, will he face any punishment by anyone or can he if someone presses charges?
Can I have my boyfriend move in and keep receiving alimony?
I am currently receiving rehabilitative alimony until 1/1/2011. I have been divorced for 2 years and my ex husband makes a considerable yearly amount more than I do. We were married 13 years with 3 children and I do not receive child support because we both have joint custody. Can I have my boyfriend of 9 months move in with me and still receive rehabilitative alimony? He will be sharing expenses. Though there are no plans of getting married anytime soon, can I get engaged without fear of having my alimony taken away? I am not sure I want to get married to this man as of right now so I would rather test the water before taking the plunge and making a big mistake again. That way if it doesn't work then I wont be financially strapped and still receive alimony. I just need a yes or no answer. I have asked attorneys before but never get a clear answer.
Can child support end when a child turns 18 in Tennessee?
If Tennessee divorce decree states that "child support shall terminate when the minor child of the parties reaches the age of majority or otherwise becomes emancipated, or unless otherwise ordered by the court", and the child turns 18 in February but is still a senior in high school, can child support legally stop being paid in February, or can child support be ordered to continue until the end of high school or until the end of college? No past child support is due, all payments are made on time.
Can I move out at 16 in Washington without legal issues?
I live in Washington, and I am 16, turning 17 in exactly two months. I am planning on moving out next month, and I will be moving in with a friend, wherein the expenses will be split. I am still in school, but will be going to a community college full time for my senior year. I am moving in with a friend from work, who is 23. I have a steady job, which would be enough to cover expenses, i.e. rent, food, electric, car insurance, etc. My mother is against it, but has still proposed the idea to me in times of conflict. I believe that I have enough cause for me to move out. Now my question is, can I do so without running into any legal problems? I don't want to have to get emancipated, and if I'm right, I believe that I would receive the child support, instead of her (since she would no longer be supporting a child).
