How can my son remove his ex-girlfriend from the house title?
My son and his girlfriend bought a house together. His girlfriend left and said she found someone else and wants nothing. They are both very young, 21. Is there a way to remove her from the deed/title so he can sell the house?
Who inherits a house owned by my husband and his mother?
My husband and his mother own a house together; my husband pays the mortgage, insurance, taxes and all repairs on this house. This property still has a large mortgage owed due to multiple refinances. His mother lives in the house alone. My husband has not made a will (yet). Who gets this property if my husband dies before his mother? Who gets this property if his mother dies, then my husband dies after her? He has 2 siblings & 2 grown children. What would I be entitled to as his spouse who supported his paying all expenses on this property while his mother and he were still alive?
What type of deed should we file for my mother-in-law's exemptions?
My wife and I built a home in Garden Ridge (Comal County), Texas and took out one mortgage (converting the construction loan to a permanent loan) after completion in June. We will be filing for a homestead exemption on our property taxes. But our question deals with my mother-in-law, who moved in two months ago (we built the house with her in mind). She took the over-65 and disability exemptions on her old home. What type of deed do we file to give her an interest in the home so that we can file these additional exemptions? Is it a Special Warranty Deed for a 50% interest (whereby her exemptions would be half of normal)? Or is it legal to do a deed conveying her a 100% life estate only, retaining the fee simple title in our name?
Can my home be placed in a trust if I owe money to the lender?
I had a paralegal set up a revocable trust for me and my spouse. She told me that the leinholder on my home would not let me put the home in the trust because I owed them money. I only owe one seventh of the value of the home. Is this correct?
