Do children receive step-up cost basis if added to a house deed?
If one adds their children's names to their house deed, does this allow the children to receive"step up cost basis" in the home? Is this the same or as good as doing a "Warranty Deed with Retained Life Estate"?
Can my husband sell his house without my consent in Pennsylvania?
My husband is selling his house. His name is on the deed. Can he sell his house without my consent? We have been married for 4 years and I did not sign any prenuptial agreement. Do I have any legal rights at all? He is telling me to get out and take my stuff. What can I do?
Is a joint tenant not married to the owner considered a co-owner?
If you live with a person but are not married, and that person is listed on the deed as a joint tenant with rights of survivorship, would that person be legally considered to be a co-owner of the property? Would that person be required to the necessary documents to sell the property such as the deed and the seller's disclosure statement?
Can my uncle's wife remove my name from the deed?
My uncle and his wife had my name added to their deed. The deed reads that this was a gift of love. This was done in 2004 and in the state of Virginia. Three years later my uncle was placed in a nursing home, his health became very unstable and his wife has cut off all contact with his family. Can she change the deed and have my name removed?
Do all heirs need separate warranty deeds to sell trust property?
If the heirs of a trust sell a piece of property, and there are more than one heir, 3 in particular, does there need to be 3 warranty deeds prepared for each person included to convey the property legally?
