I resigned from a job after 1 year because of the long commute back forth to work. I registered with an employment agency to get a new job. They contacted my previous employer for a reference which had a "NO comment " policy re: giving refences out to anyone. Instead, a new Partner at the firm who I used to work for at a previous firm gave me a negative reference although I worked for her four years prior and brought her to the new firm where she made Partner. She was not one of the Attorneys that I was assigned to at the firm. I felt good in putting her down for a reference. She not only gave a negative she tried to recant her reference after I heard the comments she said to the Agency. She kept on saying that she was not suppose to give me any kind of reference because the firm's policy. She left several voice mail messages trying to explain her comments. She tried to defend herself. To me this has hurt me in seeking new employment. Can I file a Civil suit against her and the Comany?

WE IMPOUNDED A VEHICLE FROM A BAR A FEW MONTHS AGO. THE CUSTOMER CAME TO PICK IT UP THE NEXT DAY, CLAIMED THERE WERE SCRATCHES ALL THROUGHOUT THE VEHICLE. WE EXPLAINED TO HIM IT WAS TOWED ON A SELF LOADER THAT DOESNT TOUCH THE EXTERIOR OF THE VEHICLE AT ANY TIME DURING LOADING OR UNLOADING. HE PAID THE FEES, TOOK THE KEYS DROVE AWAY WITH OUT GIVING US THE CHANCE TO INSPECT THE VEHICLE OR TAKE PHOTOS. NOW 2 MONTHS LATER HE WANTS US TO PAY FOR REPAIRS IN SMALL CLAIMS COURT. NOT SURE WHAT HIS CASE IS SINCE HE LEFT AND ACCEPTED THE VEHICLE. HOW CAN THE COURTS BE SURE THE DAMAGES WERENT PRE EXISITING?

Can I write a letter to one of my son's co-workers and his wife, who are trying to ruin my sons reputation by running their mouths to people in the community and family because he is jealous of my sons coaching record and people are talking about replacing him with my son. I just want them to know how I feel about the situation and that the crap needs to stop. My son is not trying to take his job and he has nothing to do with what the community does or how they feel. It all boils down to jealousy and envy and they need to stop running their mouths about my son. Could my letter be used against me in a defamation, libel, or slander civil suit?

I sold my boat on 8/20/07 on 8/21/07 the new owners had a exhust hose break and the boat sank. They didn't register or insure the boat. Now they are telling me that because they didn't register it that I still own the boat and that I am responsible for all costs and that they want their money back. I signed over the title and I have a contract of sale. They had a licenced surveyor inspect the boat before they bought it. Can you please tell me who owns this boat?

My son accidentally broke a store front window with his bicycle . The owner will not turn it in to his insurance and suggested I turn it in to mine. Should he have to turn it in or am I 100% responsible.
