How can we stop a student from being bullyied by teachers and coaches?
My son is an honor student and senior at Marysville high school. I was the former head basketball coach and some of the school staff and the administrators do not like me. My son has been harassed for the past year, but this year he was pulled aside by the security officer and warned that he needed to be very careful and watch his back because the school administration was out to get him. He has been accused of cutting class when he was actually in class, pulled out of his honors Enlish class to be interrogated over an alleged cut that didn't occur. They threatened to bench him from his last home basketball game and a teacher refused to give him the homework assignment in her class. She handed the assignment to everyone but Cameron and told him he wouldn't get one, What action can I take to put a stop to this? He has excellent attendance, is an honor student, member of the Christian club and he is hearing impaired.
Can I Get an Injunction to Graduate from School Despite an Academic Probation?
My wife is a college nursing student. Her current class has 2 parts. One clinical (in the hospital settting) and one in the academic classroom. She currently has 2 academic tests left and an 86% average. She was failed in her clinical side of the course on the last day. She is being denied the ability to complete her final two exams even though she has filed a grade appeal. Its rather obvious that this prevents her from completing the course even if she wins her clinical course grade appeal. Does an injunction have any chance of allowing her to complete her academic course work?
My daughter has been given a possible 5 day suspension at school.
My daughter has been given a possible 5 day suspension with a threat of expolsion for bringing a knife to school, She brought it because they were doing a French project & the teacher asked thme to bring in 'utensils' to prepare the food. The day of the event the principal saw my daughter with the knife & the fruit, took the knife & escortef her to the French classroom. He gave the knife to the teacher & told the teacher to give the knife back to my daughter at the end of the day to take it home. The teacher never gave my daughter the knife until a few weeks later. Her class is in the middle of the day so she had to place the knjife in her locker. She promptly forgot it was ther & while cleaning her locker yesterday it fell out & the principal was walking by again, comfiscated it & called us to say that she was being expelled for up to 5 days ith a possible expolsion. I asked him why he or the teacher did not confiscate it & call us then & there to pick up the knife. Where was there concern then for the welfare of the other students & teachers. (which is what he kept telling us his job is). IN my opinion, yes I want my child to be safe & understand the need for no tolerance; however, where is their responsibility to take the knife from her & remove the threat? They are supposed to be the adults & be guarding the chicken coop. I feel that if they had taken the knife that day - we would not even be having this conversation.I should mention that my child is 18 & a senior in high school scheduled to gradute in June. While we were waiting to go in to the conference room, we overheard one teacher say to another- how many times have I told you to keep your knives at home. My daughter was really upset by that. They are talking about her amongst the faculty. They tried & convicted her before they knew all the facts & they admitted that. However, they still suspended her. They told us they were only following procedure. I wanted to know if they would give back a rifle if they encountered on in the hands of a student. What are my daughters rights here?Thank you
May I access the school disciplinary record of another student who assaulted my child?
My son, who is a high functioning Autistic 10th grade boy, was in an incident at school where another student asked him to 'High-Five' him. After the 'high five' the other boy said, 'Didn't you feel anything?' My son then noticed that he had blood running out of his hand; the other boy had concealed a tack between his fingers, puncturing my son. The incident was taken over by the school principal, who was very apologetic, but stated that they had taken all the steps and that the boy was punished. This is after my wife left her job to take my son to the doctors for a tetanous shot. I asked what the punishment was that was given to the other boy, but the principal would only state that he was punished. Because of confidentiality rights I could not know to what extent the punishment was. Is this true? What are some of the other legal avenues I could take? This has me very upset.
My son trusted the school resource officer with personal information that was repeated to others
Can a resource officer at a school tell information to a school's assistant principle if the information was promised not to be told to anyone by a county police officer? Then, that information was told to several teachers and was even mentioned in one teachers class
that my son was busted last night, although no drugs were found. Now the school is telling him that he is not allowed to play baseball his junior year. Does he have any rights as a minor? Do we have any legal rights for your son?
