Can I give my child my maiden last name in California?
I am 7 months pregnant. My husband left me for another woman when I was 2 months pregnant and we have not had any contact since. I have filed for divorce and our divorce becomes final the same day as my due date. I know that under the California Presumption law, I will have to list him as the father (which, biologically, he is anyway), but I'd like to know if I can still give my child my maiden last name as I have been granted the request to change my name back once my divorce is final and I want my child to have the same last name as myself. Can I legally give her my maiden last name even though he will be listed on the birth certificate?
Can I prevent my girlfriend from having an abortion if I want to raise the child?

Does the father have to step in if he was absent during pregnancy?
If a mother of the child was with someone else (i.e., not the natural father of the child) during the months of pregnancy and 11 months after the child was born, and the child’s father did not have anything to do with the child during that time, will the father have to step in at this time? The child carries the natural father’s last name and also the natural father’s name is on the child’s birth certificate as the father.
What steps should I take to sign over custody to the father at birth?
I am having a baby and I plan to sign over custody to the father at the time of birth. My parental rights were terminated on a previous child in order for the father of this baby not to have any problems with DHS. What do we need to do?
What are my custodial rights as Josh's birth mother in Arizona?
I gave birth to my son in Arizona in February of 2003. I was not married to his father. In 2004, the father petitioned for paternity but failed to keep up on court visits and paperwork. I believe the case was dropped. What are my custodial rights as Josh's birth mother?
