If I loan someone my vehicle who would be liable if an accident occurs?
A friend has asked to borrow my spare truck for the summer. I have no objection, but I want to know if I have any legal exposure, and if so, what I should do to minimize it?
How do I dispute damage a neighbor claims my son did to her car?
My son opened his rear passenger car door in a school parking lot, dinged and scuffed the neighboring car's rear door. The only people to witness this was my uncle, my husband and my 2 sons. The vehicle owner came out soon after. We had her get 3 estimates. On the estimates was previous damage included on her front door and her driver mirror. I took the least of her estimates and had all the 'other' damage removed from the estimate in order to create a new estimate. I then wrote a check for that amount plus 1 day rental car. She then got furious, turned in the 'damage' to her car insurance and stated that her car insurance will contact me. We are absolutely responsible for the ding and scuff mark caused to her rear driver's side door, however she is insisting that our rear door scuffed her rear door, nicked her front door and nicked her front mirror. This is physically impossible. My husband drives a large 4 door diesel truck and the parking lot is a small parking lot, the truck door couldn't open all the way! She is now claiming that our front door had to blow open as well, but it did not. She has submitted a claim to her insurance company, for everything and has said that they will be contacting me. Help!
Does Ohio have an impulse to buy clause because I bought a car I can not afford?
I just bought a car from a dealer and I really can’t afford it. Does Ohio have an impulse buy clause or anything like that?
What can we do if my son bought a car that the seller is not the owner?
My son bought a car on craigslist. It didn't have a motor. The seller was an auto repair shop and said he couldn't find the title and would mail it to him. We went to register the vehicle in his name and the DMV said that he wasn't the owner on the title. It hasn't been reported stolen. The main phone number has been disconnected. He bought it in Redwood City, Ca. Can we do a lien title?
What is the Lemon Law in North Carolina?
Is there any consumer protection via a lemon law in NC? I had a pre-owned Chevy Blazer SUV die on me the 12th day after possession and now I cannot afford the repair, which is a total engine replacement. Right now it sits on the dealer's lot with a completely disassembled
engine, even some of its parts are now mysteriously missing! The dealership is only willing to lend us the $2,000.00 to get it repaired, and let us pay that back over time with monthly payments. We want our money back or another vehicle equivalent to what we already have paid him. He says he has nothing like that. How can we cut our losses at this point?
