Abandoned Property

Is there away to prove abandonment and also a way to claim the property, if abandonment is proven?
My question is this, the property across from us has clearly been abandoned. The homeowners packed up in a matter of 2 days and haven't been back since. There are cars and farm equipment left behind. Is there away to prove abandonment and also a way to claim the property, if abandonment is proven?

When is it legal to dump daughters in laws belongings that are at my home?
My son and daughter in law have lived with us for over a year. They recently broke up and my son moved out and eventually came back to clean out the rest of his things. My daughter in law's things are still in my garage and thrown all over the place. I have called her several times to ask her to remove her things but she wont come do it. Can I legally take these things to the dump? It's very damp in there and I'm sure most of it is ruined by now. Might I add that they did not pay one cent of rent the entire time they stayed with us and she refuses to let us see our 9 month old disabled grand daughter.

How long does an item have to be left before it is considered abandoned property?
My roommate moved out of my apartment in December . She left a bicycle in my storage shed in the backyard. She is now claiming that she is going to press charges against me because I did not let her come get her bike when she came into town in May of the next year. I assumed that she abandoned it and told her unless she wanted to pay me rent for housing the bicycle for 5 months, that it was technically mine. Can she legally take the bike back, or is it considered abandoned property?
