Full question:
My Truck was being used by a friend, the insurance wasn't paid and was voided, he was involved in an accident, and now the young man that he hit is saying that there is more damage to the truck than there actually is. I cannot afford an attorney, but I don't want to pay an outrageous amount of money for something that I wasn't involved in. It is only cosmetic damage to the truck. What is the law in this type of situation?

Answer:
Generally, the person responsible in an auto accident has to pay for the damages caused. You may try to settle out of court with the other driver or let it proceed legally and dispute the amount of damages by getting an independent repair estimate.
