Should I sign a payment plan for a student loan I co-signed?
Ten years ago I co signed on a student loan. The loan officer is taking me to court on a civil judgement. Since then the owner of the loan has come forward and set up a payment plan to pay off the loan. But the loan officer still wants me to sign a paper stating that I will also make payments to this account or he will still file a civil judgement against me. Do I sign? I am afraid because that's how I got into this situation in the first place. HELP.
What happens after a default judgment for credit card debt?
I have just received a copy of a request for default and request for default judgement filed with the local district court against me for credit card debt in the amount of $7000.00. I am unemployed and have depleted my savings. What can I expect to happen now. Should I call the Law Firm that represents the Credit Card company to see if I can workout a settlement? I really have no idea what to do. I have no money to pay for a lawyer.
Can a promissory note secure a loan across state lines?
My husband and I will be loaning our sister in law some money to help her pay off her mortgage. We reside in California, she resides in Nevada. The loan will not have interest applied to it. The collateral will be the manufactured home she lives in. The total amount of the loan will be due upon her death or upon the sale of her home whichever occurs first. Will a promissory note handle this transaction and if so which one since there are two states involved? Another stipulation in the loan will be that if my husband and I both pass away before my sister in law, the loan will still be due and payable to our trust.Thank you for any assistance you can give me.
