Is it normal to provide sensitive information for a rental application?
I am trying to rent a beautiful apartment on Roosevelt Island. There is a credit check fee of $100 and they want me to fill out a rental application with my SS#, bank account numbers, and my signature. Is this normal?? Should I worry about identity theft or fraud?

What are my rights regarding attorney fees for a dental bill?
We received a summons for an unpaid dental bill. The actual amount due is $991 however there are Attorney fees of $330.33. The Attorney has been nasty and we refuse to deal with him. After much thought we have decided to pay the $991. We do not want to pay these Attorney fees. My wife signed something from the dentist that stated if the account was turned over to an attorney we are responsible for 33 1/3 of the balance plus court costs. This will not go to court. I refuse to pay this Attorney anything in regards to this matter.

What rights does the other Attorney have as we have agreed that we will pay the balance of $991 but NEVER EVER pay this nasty Attorney. We will send a note to the court stating we agree to pay the balance in full (which is what is actually owed) of $991. What can we do? What can he do? As we will simply not pay these fees?
What are my options for reducing restitution payments after a conviction?
I got into trouble at my old job at Macy's. I was caught stealing product and gave it back and spent jail time for the act. It was the first time I was in trouble with the law. The made me sign a promissary note for restitition for a very large amount of money under the threat of further prosecution because I was suspected of selling some stolen product on ebay. I have no receipts for the products that were sold but they were not stolen. I am currently paying $445 a month to this dept store and since I recently divorced and have 2 small children and cannot afford this huge payment. What is my recourse?
Can credit card companies take my property for my husband's debt in Missouri?
My husband passed and had several thousand dollars worth of credit card debt in his name only. I am being harrassed by the credit card companies to settle this debt. They have threatened to take my property, cars, life insurance which I am the beneficiary of and the pension that I am entitled to from his work. Can they do this in the state of Missouri? I have minor children at home still and there is no way I would be able to pay these bills.
