What are the requirements to become emancipated?

Full question:

I am 17, and my mother is trying to kick me out of the house. She has legal custody over me, and my dad lives in in another state and I am not willing to move there. And I have a full time job. If my mom agrees to an emancipation, will it be that easy to obtain? Or will we still have to go through all the steps through the court and what not?

FAQs

Yes, in most states, parents have the legal right to prevent their minor children from moving out until they reach the age of majority, which is typically 18. However, laws vary by state, and some allow minors to seek emancipation under certain circumstances. If you are considering moving out, it may be helpful to consult with a legal professional to understand your rights.
