Full question:
My daughter has a minor friend who is seeking to move out of her mothers home, her mother said she is willing to sign papers to allow her to move out if that's what she chooses. I'm concerned about the minors rights and entitlements (ie her share of her child support from her father-he resides in CA-and her entitlement to Disability from her fathers claim) to assist in her financial support, if she can legally do so, also she needs medical insurance, she currently lacks medical care. I'm concerned that she be able to receive medical, dental and eye care once residing with me. I guess I'm asking how can I proceed legally to ensure she is looked after properly to protect her rights.

Answer:
Unless a minor is emancipated, their parents still have a duty to support them. This includes financial support such as child support and disability benefits, which the minor may be entitled to receive. Additionally, the minor will need medical insurance for healthcare coverage, including medical, dental, and vision care. To ensure the minor's rights are protected and that she receives the necessary support, it may be advisable to consult with a legal professional who specializes in family law. This content is for informational purposes only and is not legal advice.
