Full question:
I currently am living in Co, I am a resident of MS, but I was married in TN. I got a car that we are both on the registration, but I am the only one on the loan. She has committed adultry and is living with the man the did this with. She wants the car, and wants me to pay for it, so can I file for a divorce here or MS, and/or TN? Which state do I need to file in? I am in the U. S. Navy, and what can I do about this legally, because she will not make up her mind on whether she wants the car or not. I want to file a noncontestant divorce, because I can not afford a full out price of a divorce, is there anything I can do, and which state do I or can I file in for a divorce and what can I do about the car?

Answer:
You may be able to have the lender allow your spouse to assume the loan and transfer the title to her. Alternatively, she might agree to transfer the title to you. As for filing for divorce, you can generally file in the state where you currently reside (Colorado), your state of residency (Mississippi), or where you were married (Tennessee). Since you are in the U.S. Navy, consider any military-specific regulations that may apply. For a non-contested divorce, you may want to check the requirements in the state you choose to file in.
