- Subcategory: Emancipation of Minor

- State: Ohio
Answer:
Once a minor reaches the age of majority that is set by the state's legislation, he deemed to have been emancipated from his parents. These vary depending on the state, with some setting them as low as 14 and as high as 18 (where the age of majority is 19). In Ohio, the age of majority is provided in ORC Ann. 3109.01 which reads:“All persons of the age of eighteen years or more, who are under no legal disability, are capable of contracting and are of full age for all purposes.”
Thus, on the attainment of the age of majority, the minor is deemed to free from parental control. After the age of majority, one is treated as an adult who is fully capable of entering into legal contracts on his own and taking his own decisions.
