What can I do if I was arrested but was not read my Miranda Rights?

Full question:

If you were arrested and your rights were not read nor were you told what you were being arrested for. What can you do? If the officer told the family member what you're being arrested for and then once processed you find out later that you have been charged with something else. How do you go about getting in contact with internal affairs to investigate this situation? I'm located in GA.

FAQs

You may not be able to sue an officer solely for failing to read your Miranda rights. However, if this violation leads to an unlawful arrest or coerced confession, it could impact the admissibility of evidence against you. In such cases, you might have grounds for a civil lawsuit under 42 U.S.C. § 1983 for violations of your constitutional rights. Consulting with a qualified attorney can help you understand your options.
