In the state of KS we do not have to fill out a DBA. We are starting a landlord business and we want to be able to put a business name on our leases instead of our personal name. What kind of document do we need to have in place to legally put a business name on the lease agreement instead of our personal name?

Answer:
Kansas has no state requirements to register or file a sole proprietorship. The State of Kansas does NOT have a general business license. However, many cities and counties require a local general business license. You will want to check with your local jurisdiction for their particular requirements. You may also choose to form a corporate business entity, such as a corporation or LLC.
