Can I place a lien on a vehicle that I fixed and was never paid for?

Full question:

I own a auto repair shop. I fixed a vehicle and they only paid half the bill. They paid half in a check and there was a stop payment put on that check. I was wondering what paperwork is needed to get a vehicle lien on it or a mechanics title for the vehicle so I can keep it for repayment of his debt?

FAQs

Yes, you can dispute a mechanic charge if you believe it is unfair or incorrect. Gather evidence such as the original estimate, invoices, and any communication with the mechanic. You may also consider discussing the issue directly with the shop owner or manager. If necessary, you can file a complaint with your state’s consumer protection agency or seek mediation.
