What rights do we have as grandparents to visit our grandchild in our home?

Full question:

My husband's daughter had a child 3 years ago and because she and her mother are terribly jealous that my husband remarried we have not been allowed to have our grandson for visits in our home. His daughter works and allows my mother in law to watch him 2 days a week while she is at her job but gets really angry when we visit him there. What rights do we have as his grandparents in the state of PA to receive visitation in our home with our grandson? We love him dearly and he loves us.

FAQs

In Pennsylvania, a mother cannot keep a child from their father without a valid legal reason. If there is a custody order in place, both parents must adhere to it. If the parents are separated or divorced, the father may have specific visitation rights. If there is no custody order, the mother should allow the father reasonable access unless there are concerns about the child's safety. Legal action can be taken if a parent is unjustly denied visitation rights.
