How can I ensure I inherit the land I live on?
I have lived in my home for 24 years. The land on which I live belongs to my mother and sister. I have never been asked for rent or payment of any kind, however my mother is getting older and I want to ensure that if something were to happen to her that I will inherit the land on which I live. What is the best option for us to ensure this?
Is my mother liable for my father's credit card debt?
My father died 3 months ago leaving balances on several credit cards ranging from 7K TO 10 K. He also, unbeknownced to me (his son), mailed balance transfer checks the day I took him to the hospital clearing most of my credit card debt. However the balance transfers take 10-14 days to clear and he died prior. Obviously, this creates the appearance that I made the transfers. First, is my mother liable for the CC debt if she did not use and was not named on the cards? Secondly, can the Credit Card companies take action against me for the balance transfers?
What is my liability as an executor for unauthorized credit card withdrawals?
I am executor to my deceased mothers estate. I was notified that a family member withdrew a $12000.00 advance from my mother's credit card account. As executor of my mother's estate, if cannot cover this, what personal liability will I have as the executor?
What are block payments and sundry charges regarding inheritance tax?
I am the beneficiary of a large sum of money. The fund is a Certificate of Deposit in a bank in London. I have been for the transfer of the funds into my US bank account. The British government is charging a non resident inheritance tax and said that the charge for the tax has to be paid first before transfer of the funds. Because the payment has by their bank has been fully bonded as a block payment and sundry charges can't be deducted from the fund and must be paid separately. Is this true? What is a block payment and what is sundry charges? Your answer to this will be greatly appreciated.
