Full question:
I have a child with my ex-husband and my ex-husband is currently paying child support. He is remarried and has 2 more children with his current wife. I just found out his current wife is serving him divorce papers. I am worried about this affecting the child support I am receiving. My ex-husband is always behind with paying but eventually gets caught up. Should I worry that my son's child support will be lowered or somehow effected now that he will need to pay child support on his other two children?

Answer:
The child support amount will not automatically decrease. Any change would require a court action or a mutual agreement approved by the court. If your ex-husband has additional children, the court may consider this when reviewing child support obligations, but it will only be one of many factors taken into account.
