Answer:
In Nebraska, a minor can obtain a hardship license through a School Learners Permit and a School Permit. To qualify for a School Permit, you must be at least fourteen years and two months old, live at least a mile and a half from school, and reside outside a city with a population of five thousand or more, or attend a school outside such a city.
The School Permit allows you to drive to school, extracurricular activities, or related events, under the supervision of a licensed driver who is at least twenty-one years old. If you haven't completed a DMV-approved Driver Safety Course, you must log fifty hours of driving time with a parent, guardian, or licensed driver aged twenty-one or older.
To get a School Permit, you need to:
- Hold an LPE-learner's permit for at least two months.
- Complete a department-approved driver safety course that includes behind-the-wheel training.
- Pass a written examination and driving test, or provide verification of your driving experience.
