FAQs

In general, property owned before marriage remains separate property unless it is commingled with marital assets or both spouses contribute to its value during the marriage. However, laws can vary by state. In Texas, for example, property acquired before marriage is typically considered separate property unless it has been transformed into community property through certain actions. It's advisable to consult a lawyer for specific guidance based on your situation.
