Full question:
My daughter, an 18 year old senior in high school, and is living at home. She enlisted in the Colorado National Guard upon her 18th birthday. Does that impact her status relating to child support, etc, under the Colorado Emancipation of Minors Laws?

- Subcategory: Emancipation of Minor
- Date:
- State: Colorado
Answer:
In Colorado, child support typically continues until a child turns nineteen, unless they are emancipated. Emancipation can occur when a child meets certain conditions, including being in high school. If your daughter is still in high school, child support will continue until the end of the month following her graduation (Colo. Rev. Stat. § 14-10-116). Enlisting in the National Guard does not automatically change her status regarding child support.
