Use of Cellular Phone while driving

Full question:

What is the law of Connecticut as far as use of cell phone while driving is concerned?

  • Category: Automobiles
  • Subcategory: Traffic Laws
  • Date:
  • State: Connecticut

Answer:

Connecticut prohibits talking on hand held cell phone while driving. Under the laws of Connecticut, any driver younger than 18 years and school bus drivers are also prohibited from using the cell phone while driving. Texting in any form by all drivers are prohibited.

Generally, using cell phones while driving distracts drivers to a great extent. Texting is even more distracting because texting causes a driver to take his/her eyes off the road in contrast to talking on the mobile while driving where the driver though distracted need not take his eyes off the road (except when dialling). Text messaging is banned for all drivers in 14 states and the District of Columbia.

FAQs

In Connecticut, exceptions to the cell phone law include using a hands-free device, such as a Bluetooth headset. Additionally, drivers may use their phones in emergencies to contact law enforcement, medical services, or other emergency responders. However, these exceptions do not apply to texting or using handheld devices while driving.
