What are my rights when transferring departments within the same hospital?

Full question:

I would like to know my rights when changing a position from one department to another when it is with the same organization. I have officially quit one department and have formally accepted another position with anther department within the Hospital. There is no policy. My current director wants to hold me until they find a replacement. I would like to give two weeks notice. I think the Hospital will need to follow situations similar to mine and follow it as a guide.

Answer:

When transferring departments within the same organization, your rights are generally determined by your employer, especially if there are no specific policies, contracts, or union agreements in place. Employers have significant discretion in setting employment policies regarding transfers and notice periods, as long as they comply with applicable laws and do not engage in illegal discrimination.
